The staff was really nice and friendly, THAT was A+, they were often asking if we were ok and if we enjoyed the food…..BUT We didn’t have the heart to tell them that the food was bland. It really wasn’t flavorful like we expected. We love Indian food and often order the same thing everywhere we go….this was by far the worst tasting experience ever. I’m Sorry. 😔😔😔 The drinks were given to us with no ice and had no sweetness to it, don’t know if that’s specific to this restaurant because all the others we gone to, we’ve been given ice in our drinks. Note: We don’t like sugary drinks, but a bit of sweetness was needed for this drink. One meal had a bucket load of spice/pepper, enough to want water or something cold to cool the palate but it wasn’t available and all the other foods we the same, it had nothing, no salt or anything. We left disappointed. The presentation and portions were Great as expected but we really didn’t enjoy the food. We ate what we could and then left. You know, we noted they had their previous reviews highlighted in the window but I would not recommend this place personally. My recommendation for improvement is to add just a bit of seasonings AND salt to your food, it would add so much more flavor & maybe ask a person if they want their drink with or without ice.
Called in an order for pickup, and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Cool. Got there 25 minutes later, it wasn't ready yet, so I waited in the restaurant. After 10 minutes, I asked gain, the food was not ready, but they charged my credit card. After waiting 35 minutes (total), I asked an employee if my food was ready yet, he said "let me look" and disappeared into the kitchen, never to be seen again. After 45 total minutes of waiting inside the restaurant, where they've been serving food to guests that arrived after I had, I asked an employee whether there was something wrong with my order. He said "I'll go check", runs into the kitchen and reappears two minutes later with my food and an apology. I'm glad they acknowledged how long it took. The food was good. I'm still upset about waiting without an explanation.
I have to say Chutney is probably the best Indian Restaurant when it comes to the taste of their food. Unfortunately, their consistency lacks. I’ve had ordered the same food multiple times always selecting Mild as my heat level. Mild, depending on the when, may actually be mild or more medium. When you want the same meal you loved last time and cannot eat it because it’s too spicy. It is really disappointing. I’ve had gone back twice, thankfully they made the food again, but just the inconvenience about having to call in and go back. They’ve also increased their prices which range from $2-$3 (as far as our usual orders). The menu online still shows the old prices but placing the order i realized we are paying almost $10 more. For a price difference of $0.50 or at max $1, I would still consider going here but this just leaves me not returning again.
The food used to be good, however in the last few orders the quality and quantity of the food has significantly decreased and the price has gone up. Would not recommend.
Hands down fantastic food and great service. Hope they are able to bring back the lunch buffet one day!
